A career-defining effort, this historic restoration was thorough – giving “to the studs” a new meaning.

Applying the same custom home design and building approach we love to a historic restoration project for a local Kootenay brewery. Very little of the original 1900s-era building in downtown Kaslo was left intact. At one point during construction, three of the four walls were removed entirely. A web of temporary framing was installed to hold up the roof and original facade, all of which were removed by hand and stripped down to stone and mortar, supported by a new engineered concrete foundation.
Focusing on the salvage and renewal of the existing building and merging the old with the new, we tied the addition in with thoughtful finishing details inside and out. Like the stunning bar top and bar built-ins, plus all the taphouse tables crafted using local Douglas Fir.
